Autumn 2006

Happy Halloween!

A few members of our '06 Nicolet staff had a mini-reunion at camp over Halloween weekend. Despite brisk autumn temperatures, we had a great time with a hike through the Outpost and a lunch cookout at Caribou Point, serious jack-o-lantern carving, and delightful dining at the White Stag Inn. We finished off Saturday evening playing in the snowflakes and making little snowmen on Hemlock's deck. Hopefully this first Halloween Trick or Treat staff weekend will set a precedent for years to come!

Boo! More happy than scary.

Creative minds and designs!

The Making of a Shelter

Allison and Jeremy tackle the project of constructing a

new shelter for campers at Back of the Hill campsite.

This spring a new picnic table will be added to complete the 5th site for Wednesday cookouts and offer a

nice environment for overnight camp outs.

Autumn Antics Around Camp

The last dock to come out of the water - none other than the ski dock, of course!

Packer tries to be a heavy helper.

Mid-September officially signals the end of summer

weather around camp. Leaves begin to turn bright gold, orange, and red. The evening air turns chilly and Franklin Lake becomes even chillier - time to enjoy the last ski run of the summer and take the dock out of the water! Soon we'll be able to ski on the lake once again, but on the frozen surface instead.

Nicolet Family News

Congratulations to Dove (former Nicolet Riding Director) and new husband, Clayton. A good guess that they are living near Green Bay!

Welcome '07 New Campers!

A big welcome to our first group of brand new Nicolet campers for 2007:

Laura Bagan, Sammy Bensinger, Alex

Cohen, Melora Fizdale, Calli Jones

(Mackenzie), Emma Rafkin (Maddie),

Jessica Sternberg (Carly), Taylor Turner,

and Caroline Zide (Jojo). It's also great to see so many little sisters already enrolled for next summer!

Members of the Camp Nicolet Advisory Board met on

September 29th in Las Cruces, NM for a sunny, warm, and most productive meeting.

Nicolet family campers, Brian and Cathy Porter and troops, shared a warm September Packers game with Georgi at Lambeau Field in Green Bay.

Snow Already???

Winter is almost here! Jeremy, Allison, Bob, and Georgi have been busy putting camp to bed for the long winter ahead. A sudden mid-October snowfall was quite a contrast with the colorful leaves, but reminded us of the beauty of all seasons, the promise of new days to come, and the planning of new and exciting adventures in the future. We approach the coming Holiday Season thankful for our wonderful Nicolet family and friends...you're the best!
