The
"ups and downs" of tennis.
Tennis
reported
by Bella
Tennis
at Camp Nicolet is really fun. Many of the things we do and
learn help us get better at tennis in a new and fun way. In
the first level of tennis the campers learn how to handle
their racquets so that the ball goes where
they
want it to go. The players also learn how to hit the ball
forehand, backhand, and they also learn how to serve. In the
second level, Advanced Beginners, campers review and learn
more advanced playing techniques.
Camp
Nicolet bases its tennis levels on the US Tennis Association
Camp Program offered for youth groups.

Swimming
reported
by Maddy
Thus
far in swimming the Nicolet campers have been going through
their basic strokes and testing to make sure they are in the
proper level. The swim staff this year are exceptional, and
well-prepared to teach the eager campers what they need to
know about swimming and safety. The campers jump into the
water the first moment they have the chance (the water temp
is currently 76 degrees) and are always excited to try new
techniques. There are always lifeguards on duty, as well as
swimming instructors in the water. The swim test this year
consists of treading to make sure the campers are capable
of swimming in the deeper end of the swim area. Campers also
demonstrate various strokes so that they can be placed in
a level that is appropriate for their ability. Swimming in
Franklin Lake is a fun and memorable experience and all the
campers are lucky to be able to participate in it!

Cookouts and Cabin Nights

Juniper
overnights in the Outpost at Gunner's Grove.
A
Time for Bonding
Juniper's
First Cabin Night
Last
night was our first cabin night and it was a blast! We did
karaoke and lipsynching which was hilarious. Then we went
swimming and our counselors supervised us because they are
lifeguards. When we were finished swimming we went back to
our cabin
and
had a dance party and bonding time. After that, we were worn
out, so we sat on our bunks and talked about the activities
we had done that day. Cabin night was a huge hit and everyone
had a great time!

S'mores...ummmmmmm good!

The
Fir campers enjoyed hiking and eating "Angels on Horseback"
for supper.
Everyone's
a Winner!
Birch's
Cabin Night
At
Camp Nicolet, Monday night means cabin night for the West
End. Our cabin Birch put on a talent show. Our counselors,
Steffanie and Neha, judged the show. We had 3 groups of people
which each did separate acts. In the end, Steffi and Neha
announced that
"Everyone's
a winner at Camp Nicolet!" and we all got a prize. We
then attempted to jump in the lake for a lakebath, but a storm
was coming so we played games instead. What a fun night!

Pines

popular
weekly contest, who will be the
2nd
week champions???
