Week 2, 2006

Happy 4th of July!

Paul Revere and the Redcoats, a.k.a. Nicolet riding staff, are the traditional Independence Day wake-up for all the campers and staff. The Advanced Campers bang pots and pans as a warning that the Redcoats are coming! Jeremy added a new twist this summer with his awesome Sherman Tank complete with siren, bull horn, and smoke effects. All this commotion led to a fun and super busy day beginning with the bell ringing ceremony and cabin competitions in the morning. This year each cabin drew the name of a state in the USA and decorated the front of their cabin accordingly. Everyone was amazing! The afternoon was exciting with the traditional red, white, and blue team field games, followed by an All Camp Dip (ACD), a BBQ supper, and a wonderful and fun evening spent at Red Arrow Camp for a barn dance and fireworks. Needless to say, we all slept extremely well that evening!

Jeremy and the CITs catch the spirit of the 4th!

Cabin representatives raise and lower the special Betsy Ross flag that is saved just for the 4th of July.

"Happy birthday America"...presented by two of our Aussie staff who love this special day!

"It's the 4th of July there's magic in the sky..." sung by the Nicolet choir at the bell ringing ceremony.

The Dining Hall also gets decorated in style and puts everyone in a super festive mood starting with breakfast. The Advanced Campers' rendition of "Yankee Doodle" complete with their pots and pans gets everyone awake for the big day.
