Week 3, 2006

"Swingin' Along" with Isle Royale Backpackers

Six Nicolet senior campers and three staff enjoyed the beauty and challenge of Isle Royale July 7th - 13th. The honors backpacking trip follows miles of numerous forest paths which also lead to expansive vistas on high ridges of the island. The mainland of Minnesota as well as Canada can be seen from various vantage points. Jeremy, Allison, Jodi and Gabe led the hardy crew to another successful IR adventure!

An island shuttle transports the group.

Congratulations to the cleanly ladies of Tamarack cabin who won a very close contest for the the cleanest cabin of 1st session. Dairy Queen orders were delivered in their honor...watch out 2nd session campers, Tamarack may do it again!

"Laugh, and the Campers Will Laugh With You"

A most humorous and entertaining play was performed the last evening of 1st session by our very own Nicolet drama group. An original performance written by campers and assisted by the theater arts staff, story lines were developed about

camp events or places. The stories behind "Grin and Bear It Day", Deerpath, and Tiger's Tail were cleverly told and enjoyed by all.

Nicolet campers pose for photos on "Grin and Bear It Day"...but who is the bear?

The deer of Deerpath Lodge.

The fearless campers of Camp Nicolet protect the campers from Camp Telocin on an overnight camp out. The fierce tiger scares them until they catch him by the tail. Thus, "Tiger's Tail".

Every summer it is so nice to welcome many alumnae back to camp who stop in to visit and give their families the grand tour. Many of the alumnae and families stay at Nicolet Village and enjoy a week or more here at camp in a true Northwoods atmosphere. Chalet and Hemlock are available for rent by the week to our Nicolet family. Let us know if you're interested...we would love to see you!

The Devauds and the Canneys, et al, have a picnic with their new Nicolet "Chip" prospects.

Janet Blum and family came to visit Nicolet after many years. "Be it ever so humble, there's no place like camp!"
