Week 4, 2007
Thinking
Sunshine for Second Session! |
| The
second session of 2007 began with sunshine and lots of
smiles. Campers climbed off the bus into the arms of waiting
pals or with friends newly made on the trip to camp. Creative
cabin signs designated summer homes and cabinmates for the session
and 7 week campers were an important part of the welcoming committee!
A tour of camp for new campers and evening introductions followed. |

Voyageur
Paddlers Depart for the Boundary Waters |
| Our
2007 Voyageur canoe trippers ready their equipment for departure
to the Boundary Waters between the USA and Canada. This is the
second year that this trip has been resurrected since it was
last led by Mr. Schrader 5 decades ago. CIT age campers who
have completed 10th grade are eligible to participate. Photos
and more in next week's online issue. |
The
"Awesome" Sea Kayak Adventure |
| One
of the annual challenge adventure trip offerings, the sea kayak
trip has become extremely popular with campers who have completed
8th grade and older. Led by a professional outfitter and guide
service, campers have the opportunity to paddle the beautiful
waters around the Apostle Islands in Lake Superior. The weather
was perfect and the company superb during the 4 day trip. Awesome! |

Record
Turnout for Invitational Regatta |
| The
Camp Nicolet annual invitational sailing regatta was held on
Saturday, July 21st with the largest fleet of boats ever seen
on Franklin Lake. Participating area camps included Agawak,
Kawaga, Red Pine, Chippewa Ranch Camp, and Menominee, as well
as Nicolet. Sailors and camp staff were treated to a BBQ followed
by a captains' meeting. Sailors from the camps were combined
and placed in teams of two to promote friendly competition and
a chance to get acquainted with both boys and girls from other
camps. 3 heats around a triangular course determined the winners.
|

Despite
a very calm start, the wind picked up around the second buoy
and sailors had a better breeze throughout the duration of
the regatta.

The
"Putt Putt" staffed by Jackie and Lee.

Gabi
from Tamarack cabin made us proud with her 2nd place overall
finish in a field of over 50 sailors. |
"Everybody
Loves a Saturday Night"...Alumnae Too! |
| Saturday
night all-camp campfires are a long-standing tradition at
Nicolet. We all look forward to the cabin skits, great staff
costumes, and singing camp songs around the campfire. It's
always gratifying to see so many alumnae return for these
special evenings to relive their camping days at Nicolet and
to join us for "Spirit" and "Green Trees".

Recent alumnae, Anna,
Lizzie, and Rachel return to camp to say hi to everyone. |
|

Music
from the 1980s was the theme this week with the girls from
Juniper leading us in an aerobic workout.

to visit, safe travels!
