More
than 150 campers, parents, prospective families, staff, and
alumnae joined us at the Winnetka Community House on January
18th for the annual Midwest Open House. Introductions and
prizes were followed by singing and a parent information session.
Yummy snacks and the premiere showing of the 2007 DVD "Wish
Upon A Summer" was the perfect finale to a fun reunion! |

Campers
new and old come from near and far.

The
2008 Little Fawnites are already in the camp spirit!

Campers
eagerly await the grand premiere showing of the new 2007 DVD.
In the coming weeks everyone will get their own copy as an annual
memento. Thanks to Jeremy for his creativity in producing and
editing the video and keeping us all entertained year after
year. |

Yea
Birch '07...and Spruce too!

Kudos
and prizes to those campers and staff coming from the greatest
distance. Abbey from Galveston, Texas; Jodi from Whistler,
BC Canada; and Josie from Houston, Texas. Lexi was a runner
up from Nashville, Tennessee (but hadn't arrived yet).

Alumnae
pose with camper daughters, a.k.a. "Chips", and
also granddaughters..."Grandchips"?

New
campers are the happy recipients of door prizes and a head
start on Nicolet gear.

Staff
member, Christine, hands out a canteen prize. She and Caitlin
are currently attending their own international reunion with
fellow Nicolet staff...in Australia no less! We expect to
see a lot of facebook postings in the weeks to come.

It's
Staff that make the world go round...
Well,
certainly campers too- and of course, parents. And everyone
else that braved the winter weather and joined us in Chicago
for an evening of visiting and reuniting with camp pals.
Thanks
to the new folks that witnessed the enthusiasm and camp craziness.
We hope you will join us for the 2008 season as well and become
a part of the Nicolet spirit. Last but not least, a big thanks
to our staff who continue to make camp a happening place-
even in the winter. You're the best! |

Igloo
Building as a Cool New Elective? |
| Following
the Open House staff members Caitlin and Jodi came back to camp
to experience a winter wonderland at Nicolet. Jeremy and Allison
invented all sorts of new seasonal activities for them to experience
including building a real igloo on the lake. The construction
crew worked hard to shovel and sculpt snow and ice. The finished
product included a great room with a fireplace, a bench seat,
and a front doorway. Cool! |

A
fire is a must on those chilly evenings at camp.

Above:
Waterfront Director, Caitlin, determined that maybe it was
a bit too chilly to go swimming in the lake today, girls.
Snowmobiling to Tiger's Tail will be the alternate activity
for the evening. Did the temperature really reach -27F?
Right:
Bundled up Jodi welcomes one and all to Nicolet Village. Guess
what? It's summertime in Australia!
Below:
One of the many beautiful winter sunsets over Franklin Lake...at
five o'clock in the afternoon! Just think, in a few months
we will just be going to our 5th hour elective activity and
getting ready for an All Camp Dip or a ski around the lake.
Only 142 more days!!!
