What A Camper Learns Communication
Telephone/FAX/E-Mail
The camp office is staffed by our camp secretary. Normal office hours
are from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM.. We would appreciate your attempt to use
these hours when you have occasion to call camp, unless it is for an emergency
reason. We also have voice mail which is monitored regularly. Please do
not hesitate to call us with any questions you may have.
Camp also has a dedicated FAX line which is active 24 hrs./day. This is
especially useful for communication with our international families. Campers
may FAX and their camp store account will be billed accordingly.
You have a direct e-mail link through your online account to write messages
to your daughter. These are printed each morning and your daughter will
receive it during mail call.
We still encourage the old fashioned art of letter writing! Campers
are asked to write home twice each week and will enjoy getting letters
from you as well.
Package
Policy
You have already given your
daughter the greatest gift of all by giving her the privilege of going
to camp. By following our packing guidelines, she will arrive at camp
with everything she will need. Therefore, no "care packages"
of any kind can be accepted for any camper during the summer. This includes
padded mailers and boxes. The "no package policy" will be strictly
enforced and any package will be returned at the sender's expense. If
there is something she needs, i.e., replacement glasses, please call the
camp office to make arrangements. As always, your cooperation is appreciated.
The exception to this policy
is if a camper has a birthday during camp, as long as the package does
not include, food, candy, or gum.
Policies
Regarding Telephone Use
Campers are not called to the phone at any time except for purposes previously cleared by the Director.
When a camper has a birthday during camp, she may either receive a call from her parents, or she may place a call to her parents at this time.
When a camper's parents are unable to visit during the visitation period, a camper may either receive a call from or place a call to her parents.
For any emergency call, please ask to speak to the Camp Director or Head Counselor.

Mail at camp is picked up and delivered six days per
week. Sometimes mail service can be slow and erratic. Because letters
are extremely important to campers, we encourage parents and relatives
to write as often as possible (rather than fax or e-mail). Also, please
write a letter before your daughter leaves home so that it will be
waiting for her upon arrival at camp. All campers are encouraged to
write home twice each week. It also helps to send her with preaddressed
stamped envelopes! We would appreciate knowing if you do not receive
a letter from your daughter within a reasonable period of time. |
If you should receive letters that cause you concern
as to her adjustment or well being, please advise us immediately. Remember,
however, that youngsters will sometimes over-emphasize a situation, so
please take this into consideration is assessing your need to contact
us.
