July 25th, 2004

Welcome to this News from Franklin Lake "extra" where some of our very talented staff photographers wanted to share with you some pictures from the second section of the 2004 Sylvania Wilderness Canoe trip. The Sylvania trip is something which Camp Nicolet has been offering to the 11 and 12 year-old age group for decades, and it's goals remain the same - to offer an introductory experience to wilderness camping to these groups of girls in preparation for the Porcupine Mountains Backpacking Trip, the Apostle Islands Sea Kayaking Trip, and the Isle Royale Honors Backpacking Trip. The Sylvania trip is a good chance for these girls to begin learning some "intermediate" level camping skills, and provides the opportunity for them to be "on trail" for multiple days. This year's trip included both camping and environmental education components. Here are some pictures from this great trip!

Until Next Time...

We hope you enjoyed this Sylvania "extra" edition of News from Franklin Lake! It's a busy weekend here at camp with Harry Potter Day activities taking place all day on Sunday, as well as the Second Session Talent Show on Sunday night, and preparations for two groups of girls departing for the Porcupine Mountains on Monday are in the works. In the next edition of News from Franklin Lake we'll bring you complete coverage of this weekend's activities, as well as some pictures from the Porkies trip. Again, if you're planning on visiting camp in the next week or so, please check the camp calendar to see what's taking place each day, and to make sure that your daughter will be in camp. The summer may be winding rapidly to a close, but it's not over yet, and there are still tons and tons of exciting and traditional Nicolet activities coming up. Another edition of the newsletter is coming up - and we'll see you then! Until next time, Think Sunshine!
