Annual Franklin Lake Ice Off Contest!

It's officially springtime in the great Northwoods and time once again for all campers and staff to enter the annual Franklin Lake Ice Off Contest. The closest guess to the exact time and date when the ice completely melts off of the lake wins a new Nicolet

T-shirt of her choice from the camp store. Hint: we've had temperatures in the 70s both in April and May, and we've also had snow (on May 11th!). Our eagles are back in their nests high above Nicolet Village and swans, geese, and ducks have returned to the lake as well. The beavers have been very busy in the Nicolet Outpost cutting and dragging small trees to their huge house in the reeds. Lots of natural activity in preparation for the big activities that will begin at camp in June!

To enter the Ice Off Contest, just e-mail your name and the date and exact time you think the ice melted to: iceoff@campnicolet.com. Good luck!

Get in Touch...

Nicolet Camp Sisters 2006

Many of you have been anxiously asking when you will receive your Camp Sister assignments for this summer.

Check your mailboxes soon and remember to get in touch with your Camp Sister as soon as possible so you can get to know each other before you arrive at Nicolet. You can e-mail, call each other, and maybe even get together if you live near one another. Camp Sisters are fun and a great way to feel welcome, or make a new camper feel at home when she gets to camp.

Boat rides around Franklin Lake are a blast at the big

Camp Sister party the 2nd evening of each session.

A Tribute to Christopher

by Tara Senter - 13 years old

His name was Christopher Extreme Sports Magee,

Hero to so many, Superstar to me.

A person you could look up to and want to be,

My hero, my cuz, my Superstar.

He was a friend to all and loved everyone around him.

Never was mean, always grateful.

Taught so many what he loved and never said a word.

Christopher was more than a man,

He was a hero and a guardian angel,

But most of all an awesome cuz.

Christopher lives on in our hearts and minds.

One thing is for sure...

Everytime I look at the lake and see a wave

I'll remember Christopher Extreme Sports Magee

A hero to the extreme!

The family of Christopher Starz wishes to sincerely thank all of you who have thought of us in various ways during the past weeks. It is comforting to know that the Nicolet family reaches round the globe and is so caring and thoughtful. Your support has been greatly appreciated. A memorial service and reception will be held at Camp Nicolet on June 4th at 3:00 p.m. and anyone wishing to help us celebrate Chris' life is welcome to attend. Chris touched the lives of many people and he will remain in our hearts forever.

"You can tell the character of a man

by what he does for the man

who can offer him nothing."

The Christopher Starz Leadership Memorial Fund has been established to continue Chris' dream of providing youth from all walks of life the opportunity to grow and develop through outdoor challenge programs. Contributions to Chris' memorial should be addressed to the Camp Nicolet Foundation, P.O. Box 1359 , Eagle River , WI 54521 , and are tax deductible.
